Sharon Spindler

I am an experienced NHS and private UKCP Systemic and Family Psychotherapist offering psychotherapy sessions in Hove to individuals, couples and families.  I am also UKCP registered to work with children and young people.

Systemic psychotherapy is evidence based and is recommended in NICE guidelines.

Everyone is different and experiences life’s dilemmas, challenges and losses in their own way.  Working together I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to talk about what might be causing confusion, stress or just making you feel plain sad.  This could include low mood, anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, identity issues, family stresses, communication problems, disordered eating and feeling of self harm and sabotage.

My approach is gentle and encouraging. I am not keen on long silences so you can count on me to initiate conversations that help explore the issues causing concern.

I am very experienced in exploring relationships, as a child and as an adult, and how they have influenced our lives, whether positive or negative.

We can get to point when we have used up all of our inner resources and our thoughts continue in the same repetitive pattern, speaking with a psychotherapist can help to give a voice to these thoughts.  Once spoken out loud, they become easier to identify and deal with, patterns and long standing coping strategies begin to reveal themselves and can be re-examined to decide whether they still serve us well.

I have twelve years clinical experience in a variety of settings, including CAMHS, and have helped adults, young people and families deal with many troubling issues, sometimes they come with a very clear goal for the work and sometimes they come with a muddle of emotions and that have become just too much to bear.

My training includes:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Therapy : The KCC Foundation, London
  • Postgraduate Certificate in CYP Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Systemic Family Practice : University College London / Kings College London / Anna Freud Centre
  • Extensive continuing professional development

I am a registered member of the UKCP as a Systemic and Family Therapist and abide by their Code of Ethics.  I am also a registered member of AFT, the Association of Family Therapy.

I work from the Hove practice.
