Sam Jahara

I am an experienced psychotherapist and certified coach providing short- and long-term psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and executive coaching in Hove, Lewes, and online. My approach combines psychological depth with a clear, focused stance: offering a confidential space that is both supportive and appropriately challenging, where meaningful insight and lasting change can take place.

Psychotherapy

I offer psychotherapy to individuals drawing on 20 years of experience. My approach is warm, relational, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens within a trusted therapeutic relationship.

I draw on psychodynamic theory and models to inform my practice, helping clients explore unconscious patterns, early relational experiences, and the deeper emotional roots of current difficulties. This reflective way of working often brings clarity, healing and the possibility of lasting change.

Clients often describe our sessions as a space where they feel both supported and gently challenged. I aim to create a confidential, non-judgemental environment where thoughts and emotions can be safely explored at a pace that suits each person.

My journey into psychotherapy began in the arts, where I trained in art therapy before qualifying as a counsellor and transactional analysis psychotherapist. Having lived and worked in Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia and the UK, I bring a culturally sensitive lens to all my work.

I work with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, depression, trauma, grief, stress, and questions of cultural identity. Whatever the difficulty, I aim to help clients reconnect with themselves and move towards greater clarity and vitality.

Below is a short introductory video about my work.

Supervision

As a UKCP-registered clinical supervisor, I provide supervision to qualified therapists, trainees and mental health professionals. My approach is relational and integrative, drawing on humanistic theory, transactional analysis, and psychoanalytic thinking. I support supervisees in developing clinical insight, deepening self-awareness, and working through complex therapeutic dynamics.

Executive coaching

I offer executive coaching informed by psychodynamic principles, having trained in Coaching for Leadership at the Tavistock Institute. My work supports professionals seeking personal development and greater leadership effectiveness. I help clients navigate challenges such as workplace relationships, transitions, and the development of emotional intelligence. Coaching is tailored to individual goals and is available in person or online. For more information about executive and leadership coaching please visit this page.

Cult recovery

With both personal and professional experience of the psychological effects of cults and high-control groups, I offer specialist support to individuals recovering from these environments. My approach provides a safe, empathic space to explore issues of identity, autonomy, and recovery from coercive and mind control. I also contribute to public awareness through interviews and writings on this subject (see below).
