I am a Systemic Family psychotherapist working with individuals and with families. I am also a qualified Art therapist, Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor psychotherapy practitioner.
My approach
I work in a collaborative, compassionate and creative way, aiming to facilitate a space that feels safe and supportive, where meaningful conversations can emerge.
My approach is grounded in systemic principles, which acknowledge that each of us is part of a complex web of relationships. Families are often the first place where we experience being-in-relationship, attachment and belonging. These early relational experiences weave into our sense of self, our belief systems and our feelings. Becoming aware of our relational patterns, and associated belief systems and stories, can help us create different possibilities of our sense of self in relation to the world around us. In my work with individuals and families I aim to support relational ways of understanding ourselves.
I am interested in ways we use language to tell our stories and in unspoken stories that have an impact on our lives. My work is also informed by my training in somatic trauma therapy. I am attentive to to the ways we embody our experiences and, where appropriate, incorporate mindfulness practices into the sessions
Background and areas of expertise
I have worked extensively with children, young people and adults individually, and with families as a whole. For the past 5 years I have been working in CAMHS.
I am experienced in offering therapy to children and adults who present with various issues, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, loss and bereavement, life transitions, illness, self-harm, suicidality and disordered eating. When I work with younger children, I offer regular joint sessions and reviews with their parents.
I also see families who would like a space to talk together, be heard and find different ways to support each other.
I embrace intersectional and inter-cultural work, and I strive for an inclusive practice.
I am registered with HCPC as an art therapist and with the Association of Systemic Family Therapists. I am in the process of acquiring UKCP registration. I am DBS checked to work with both adults and children.
